Destination Culture

DESTINATION : CULTURE

Climb aboard the Arts Tour Bus this April for an unforgettable and immersive day of art and culture across three creative hubs.

The Arts Tour Bus is rolling into town for a very special event. On Saturday, April 13th, participants will board the bus in Narre Warren and head out to three local community arts centres.

The first stop on the itinerary is the Burrinja Cultural Centre, the centre of arts, culture and community in the Dandenong Ranges. Participants are invited to immerse themselves in the thought-provoking Glimpse exhibition, featuring displays from 44 galleries in a wide range of media from textiles and sculptures to photography and paintings. Each piece draws the viewer into the inner world of the creator’s mind, taking the imagination on a flight of fancy.

Next up is the Cardinia Cultural Centre, which is hosting a curated collection of award-winning pieces from the Australian Wearable Art Festival. Described as “a spectacular fusion of sculptural art and fashion, where Gaultier meets Picasso”, each piece is a mesmerising and visually stunning feat of creativity and engineering.

The third and final visit of the tour is to the Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre, where participants can explore and interact with A Tra$hy Dreamland. The unique exhibition shines a spotlight on issues like mass production, the environment, culture, and how we can reuse broken and unwanted items.

The tour ends at its starting point in Narre Warren. Participants can pre-order lunch from a custom menu from Chimes Eatery in the Cardinia Cultural Centre, or bring a packed lunch. Tickets for the tour are just $5, and children under the age of 12 ride free. The bus is scheduled to leave Narre Warren at 10am and return by 4pm.
