Talking to Victoria Andrews, owner of MLAS Skin and Body, it doesn’t take long to realise how passionate she is about what she does. With over 35 years in the beauty industry, Vicky hasn’t lost any of her enthusiasm for helping clients achieve their skincare goals. For her, it’s all about combining scientifically developed treatments to create a tailored approach for each client’s unique skin.

Vicky began her career as a beauty therapist before specialising as a dermal technician, working with laser therapy. For over a decade now, she has combined laser with enzyme therapy to provide advanced remedies for a wide range of skin conditions including acne, rosacea, scarring, fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging, blemishes and dull, tired-looking skin.

Enzymes are a type of protein used by living organisms to create and speed up chemical reactions – for example, digestive enzymes that break down food into smaller molecules your body can use. In skincare, enzymes are used to break down the keratin protein in the top layer of skin, which holds dead skin cells together. This makes it easy to gently buff away dead skin, blemishes and scars, making way for the healthy new cells underneath.

Every client is treated on an individual basis. At the initial consultation, you will be asked about your personal skincare goals. Your skin will be assessed and analysed, so that your technician can create a tailored mix of therapeutic enzymes and topical solutions including a pre-exfoliant and pure botanicals.

To begin with, treatments are usually done weekly. Your skincare plan may include muscle banding, intense peels, and even supplements to promote skin health from within. Dead skin cells are cleared away and new cell activity is encouraged. The skin is detoxed, circulation and oxygenation are improved, and the movement of the lymphatic system is enhanced. The results speak for themselves: fresh, bright new skin that is smoother and clearer than ever, with boosted collagen production for younger, plumper skin.
