The First Step to Success

Haileybury Early Learning Centre offers the best start for children's education

When you set your child up with a great start in their education journey, you are setting them up for life. That’s why the Haileybury Early Learning Centre is a popular choice for parents wanting the best for their children. The ELC is the first exciting step in the Haileybury program, which is tailored to each educational stage and aims to build resilient and independent learners with a strong work ethic and critical skills in decision-making, leadership, and enterprise. Children who attend the ELC are given new opportunities to explore, discover and grow together while fostering their unique capabilities and a love for learning.

Haileybury Berwick’s Head of Campus Jeanette Rawlings said parents valued the quality of the ELC learning program, the exceptional staff and facilities, and the sense of community- and these were just some of the reasons that they choose to enrol their children at the Berwick campus.
Many are ‘Old Haileyburians’ who enrol their own children at the school because they want the same experience for their children. Many are new
families, who quickly feel at home at Haileybury Berwick due to the friendly community.

“It is a very warm and welcoming centre and the exceptional staff provide a wonderful learning program for the children,” Ms Rawlings said.

Parents appreciate having the option of enrolling their child part time or full time for Reception (children 3-4 years of age). Once they move into Pre-Prep (children 4 -5 years of age), they then move to full time in preparation for the transition to Junior School. The ELC also offers many different specialist classes in Reception and Pre-Prep. These include Library, Movement, Music, P.E., and Creative Arts. The Jolly Phonics Literacy program is also incorporated into the ELC’s play-based curriculum.

Besides the specialist classes, children at the ELC love being involved in key events with the Junior School throughout the year, such as the Easter Bonnet Parade, Cross Country, Book Week and more. They also enjoy the Out and About program where they explore the campus, go for nature walks and, more recently, visited the Haileybury Hive – Haileybury’s very own beehive! “We have many areas of focus including sustainability, Indigenous education and celebrating cultural events that reflect children’s diverse background,” Ms Rawlings said. “As part of our School Readiness Program, we work closely with the Multicultural Resource Centre to broaden our cultural awareness and understanding.”

The manta ‘Every student matters every day’ is extremely important at Haileybury, and the core values of Trust, Unity and Respect underpin
everything they do. With their exceptional programs, friendly and experienced staff, and flexible options, it’s easy to see why Haileybury’s Berwick Early Learning Centres exceed National Quality Standards, as set by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority.
